Stockholm. From the station we walked the few blocks to our hotel, called VICTORY HOTEL.

Stockholm, LADY HAMILTON, Nelson’s famous mistress, and the VICTORY, named after Lord Nelson’s flagship HMS VICTORY.

Our hotel room in Stockholm. A portrait of a Swedish sea captain greets the visitor outside each hotel room. The hotelier conducted extensive research along the coasts of Sweden for information about 48 sea captains featured.

On the tiny island of Riddarholmen, next to Gamla Stan is the second oldest church in Stockholm. Riddarholmen was founded in the 13th century as a Franciscan monastery (not pictured).

Stadshuset (Stockholm’s city hall) took 12 years, 8 million bricks, and 19 million gilded mosaic tiles to erect.

Stockholm. Some of the loveliest and most varied waterfront walks in the city. Stadshuset square tower is 348 feet high.
