Sunday morning at our campsite at Picacho.

A small group of us decide to climb the summit of Picacho Peak. Some of the adults drove vehicles to Picacho, so we drove about 5 miles over a jeep trail south to the base of Picacho, then began a hike up a (mostly) dry arroyo. After about a mile,
the ascent steepened. At this saddle, the use trail became quite steep. We made elevation quite quickly.

View to south, about 200 feet from the summit.

We eat lunch in a protected cleft at the notch.

Lunchtime.

From our lunch spot, we sport a view to the southwest of the Colorado Desert. (Note one of the adults, in blue jacket, is on a rock in the lower right.)
Back at Picacho, we all cool off in the Colorado River.

About 2 miles downriver from Picacho, we enter a lake on the Arizona side and beach the canoes for a short hike.
