The cover photo is a view looking south across Papoose Flat, Inyo Mountains. The pinnacles are erosional remnants of the Cretaceous quartz monzonite pluton intruded into a succession of Cambrian strata. The Sierra Nevada can be seen in the upper right of the photograph.
