SDSU grad student Jon lead a small turnout on two hikes into the Chocolate Mountain anticlinorium in the Picacho area of southeastern California. We observed the Jurassic(?) Winterhaven formation, looked for the fault separating the older gneiss from the Orocopia schist, the Quechan volcanics including the ignimbrites of Ferguson Wash, and the Bear Mountain conglomerate contain clasts of all these units.
