In the San Filipe desert north of Gonzaga on the way to Puertecitos. We drove all the way across this road, then a poorly maintained semi-paved road (to Km 52) to San Filipe. After fueling, we drove directly to Mexicali, where we crossed over to Calexico around 5pm, just after sunset after waiting about 35 minutes. We then took California route 98 to I-8 back to San Diego. We arrived home at 7:15 pm on December 12, having driven over 2,000 miles over eight days.
