Baja Road trip started December 5, 2005, with Mark, Daniel, and me in two vehicles. We left my house at 10:30 am and arrived in Ensenada for a late lunch of fish tacos at the Black (fish) Market. We then drove to Jimmy's cabin near La Bufadora. Mark felt too ill the next day to continue, so he stayed behind while Daniel and I continued on our own in a rented Izuzu Trooper south on Mexico Highway 1, the transpeninsular. We had originally intended to journey the Pacific Coast from Punta Canoas to Santa Rosalillita. This being the mid-northern "lost coast" that seems to be rarely travelled. The roads are of uncertain condition but probably poor to impassible in placed. We were only one vehicle, so we thought to keep to more established roads. The second night we stayed in a primitive campsite in the boulders and cirios in the vicinity of Catavina.
